It’s difficult to write about poverty in a detached, dispassionate way.
But that’s what I’m trying to do here – present the facts about modern poverty in the UK without involving emotion.
Don’t get me wrong – I’m absolutely full of rage at the injustices of modern life in the UK. It’s a very emotive subject, and one that’s often clouded by misconceptions. But there are plenty of people who write passionately about that, and they generally do it better than me.
So I want to talk about poverty in terms of the facts and figures, and will always link to my sources so people can check the data for themselves.
